About King Khalid University

King Khalid University (KKU) was founded when the two branches of Al Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University and King Saud University were merged together in 1999. The merger between the two branches made way for the creation of one unified university with multiple colleges and majors. KKU is hosted by one of the most beautiful cities in the Middle East, Abha, which rests up in Assir mountains in the southwest of Saudi Arabia. The city is frequented every summer by tourists and vacationers who find the soothing pleasure in the weather and atmosphere in Abha. This allowed KKU to be sought after by students as well as researchers and academics who look for a convenient and comfortable environment to work. KKU is now a major regional player in the development of Assir Province. It casts a great influence on the local society and extends its impact to Jazan and Najran, which both have two newly established universities based on merged schools that once were part of KKU. The university continues to play that constructive role in other areas including Annamas, Bisha, and Khamis Mushait, where KKU operates a number of colleges.
